Philip A. Cantwell concentrates his practice on successfully resolving complex commercial disputes.  Phil is experienced in all aspects of litigation, including case strategy preparation, discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial, and appeal.

Before joining Dowd Bennett, Phil was a litigation and restructuring associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, NY, counseling an array of domestic and international commercial, financial services, and industrial clients navigating complex litigation and business issues in courts across the country.

Phil previously clerked for the Honorable Deborah L. Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  In law school, he interned with the criminal division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois.
