Matt Johnson maintains a national trial practice that focuses on complex commercial and business litigation with an emphasis in the oil and gas/energy industry. He litigates cases in the general business litigation context that involve breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties/securities issues, overriding royalty interest rights, oil and gas lease disputes, joint venture operating agreements, mergers and acquisitions disputes, environmental contamination disputes, trade secrets violations and non-compete issues, alleged patent infringement, and he has extensive experience litigating in the FINRA arbitration forum both on behalf of investors and on behalf of brokerage houses. Matt also has trial experience in the antitrust realm. In over 13 years of practicing law, Matt has developed extensive trial and arbitration experience in state and federal courts across the nation.
Prior to joining Dowd Bennett, Matt began his law practice in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins LLP, and subsequently worked as an associate at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP in Denver. Most recently, Matt was a partner at Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP in Denver.
