Dowd Bennett Sponsors University of Missouri School of Law Lloyd L. Gaines Scholarship Banquet
Dowd Bennett served as a premium sponsor of the 40th Annual Lloyd L. Gaines Scholarship Banquet hosted by the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at the University of Missouri School of Law (Mizzou Law) on February 28, 2026. The event honored Michael Middleton, Mizzou Law’s first Black tenured law professor and first Black student to start as a 1L and finish as a 3L, with the Legacy Award.
As part of its sponsorship, Dowd Bennett funded two scholarships for BLSA students and Partner Arsenio L. Mims was present to announce the scholarship recipients. The annual banquet commemorates Lloyd L. Gaines who was denied admission to the University of Missouri in 1936 despite an exemplary academic record.
