James F. Bennett serves as master of ceremonies at investiture ceremony in 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals

On July 16, 2018, Jim Bennett traveled to Chicago, IL to emcee the formal federal installation ceremony of his longtime friend and mentor, Judge Michael Y. Scudder.  Jim and Judge Scudder met in the summer of 1999 when they arrived at the Supreme Court to start their clerkships for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.  Justice Kennedy was also in attendance, administering the oath to Judge Scudder.

In his opening remarks, Jim stated, “There is no substitute for mentoring and training in the practice of law.  Similarly, there is no experience quite like working in the chambers for the right judge.  One of the most exciting parts of this investiture is that Judge Scudder will be hiring clerks and mentoring young lawyers in life and in the law.”
