Jim Bennett was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as one of eleven "Lawyers of the Year" in the State of Missouri. The publication selected lawyers in Missouri who "made a mark" during 2007. The article recognized Mr. Bennett's work in the S.P. Systems and STV Engineering proceedings as well as in other matters and reported that "Jim Bennett was an integral part of two of the biggest jury trials in St. Louis over a 12-month span ending in November."

Ed Dowd was elected to the Presidency of the National Association of Former United States Attorneys. The organization is composed of lawyers around the country who have served as the United States Attorney in each district and other attorneys who served in the Department of Justice as presidential appointees. The purpose of the organization is to protect the integrity and independence of the United States Attorneys.

On November 30, 2007, a St. Louis County jury returned a verdict in favor of our client, STV Engineering, and its partners in a 15 week jury trial. The case was the longest jury trial in St. Louis County history and resulted in a victory for our client on all nine counts. In opening statement the plaintiff (the St. Louis mass transit agency) asked for a verdict of $100 million. The jury instead ruled for the defendants and awarded them $2.56 million for their unpaid invoices.

August 2007
In Auguest 2007, two new lawyers join the firm, bringing the total number to seven. Brian King is a graduate of Harvard Law School and formerly worked at Akin Gump in Washington D.C. and as a judicial law clerk. John Comerford is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Georgetown University.

Dowd Bennett lawyers prevail in Huber v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., a major Americans with Disability Act case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit

June 2007
Dowd Bennett LLP lawyers prevail in four-day bench trial on motion for sanctions and to set aside a judgment in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. The motion, based on witness tampering at a prior trial handled by different counsel, resulted in an order that our client's adversary pay $1.17 million to our client.

Dowd Bennett lawyers obtain $36 million jury verdict in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri for their client, Structural Polymer Group in case against Zoltek.
